Aspects of Funeral Planning

Before you make any arrangements, you may wish to consider your needs and perhaps discuss these with your family. Some issues to consider include:

  • the type and style of funeral service you would like;

  • whether you prefer burial or cremation;

  • how much you are prepared to spend;

  • your preferred cemetery or crematorium;

  • your choice of coffin or casket;

  • any special features you would like to include in the service, such as a special piece of music or poem

  • the type of funeral notice, mourning vehicles and flowers;

  • if you would prefer donations to charity rather than flowers.

What is a Pre-Paid Funeral?

A Pre-paid Funeral is simply one in which the cost is negotiated and paid for well in advance of the actual funeral itself. This is done through a single payment or a number of separate payments.

Why consider a Pre-paid Funeral?

There are two main reasons. Firstly - because it guarantees that your expressed wishes for a dignified and meaningful funeral are carried out to the letter. Secondly - because it alleviates some of the emotional trauma and financial burden placed on many families at the time of bereavement.

How is your money managed?

The money that you pay for your pre-paid funeral contract is held at arms length by a friendly society* and is not accessible to your funeral director until your agreed funeral service is completed. However we do offer a 7 day money back period without deduction.
Monies lodged are Government Approved under the Friendly Society Act and have Tax Advantages.

Remember: pre-paying means real peace of mind for you and your family.

*Full details about the Friendly Society's Funeral Fund are available on request.

Safety of Money.

Government legislation introduced in 1993 protects all pre-paid funeral monies paid by you. The funeral director must purchase cremation or burial deeds where possible and invest all other money in a Government approved fund.
